CHAPTER II

SELF IDENTIFICATION

2.1.

Introduction
Self Identification is one way to introduce ourselves personally to somebody

else or people. In Self Identification, someone tell/explains who is he/she to anybody

honestly. When someone does Self Identification, someone will tell his/her self
through his/her explanation, even he/she does not realize it.
The style that we use to introduce ourselves can affect to the audience to hear
our explanation so the audience can be a good listener or not, and does the audience
interests with what our explanation. If the way that we use to identify ourselves is not
interested so the audience will get bored and the conversation will end soon. But if we
use the right matter so the audience will give a good response through one or many
questions that tempt them. It will make a living conversation or discussion. This is
what a presenter hope during a presentation goes on.

2.2.

Types Of Self Identification

Types of Self Identification can do by :

a. Identify personality through information about name, birthday, address, family,

education background, hobby, etc.
b. Identify physically such as the colour of hair and skin, weight of body, height of
body, types of hair (straight/curly), etc.

2.3.

Many Things That Influence In Self Identification

If we want to do a presentation or conversation, so we must prepare our self.

Besides the way that we use to introduce ourselves, many things can influence the
audience to listen about our Self Identification. Many things that we must pay
attention before do Self Identification are :
a. Focus

If you want to make a conversation to people or someone else, so you must focus
to what will you say. If you can not focus to the topic of discussion, it will be a
bad things because what you say may be different with what you mean (according
to the topic). You can tell the wrong thing or you do not go to the straight topic.
So, keep your focus to the topic of discussion or conversation during do Self
Identification.

b. Voice
Voice is one item that can affect in our Self Identification. If we want to tell
people about our Self Identification with a lower voice or no voice at all, so
maybe they can not hear well. If they can not hear well so they will not pay
attention about our explanation because they can not hear clearly or they can not
hear anything. The effect of this circumstance is the discussion or conversation is
not an interest thing anymore. The audience can fall asleep, do something else,
they can make another conversation with someone else around them. This thing
will make noise so the others can not hear clearer than before. We must avoid this
thing! So, we must produce a right loud voice when we want to do Self
Identification.

c. Eyes
When we will tell about our Self Identification, try to make an eye contact with
the audience. Do not avoid it! Eye contact is one way to show the respect of our
self to the audience. Through eye contact, we know that the audience listens to our
explanation or not. So, we must make an eye contact to the audience if we want to
do the best conversation. If we do not make an eye contact to the audience, the
audience can not listen to our explanation. So keep your eyes make a contact to
the audience.

d. Attitude
Some attitudes that we must pay attention more such as :
-

Our position (either we stand or sit) must be right and polite.

Put your smile on your face. Do not too worry/stress because your face can tell
many things to the audience.

Watch out our motion during the Self Identification.
