WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE ENGLISH COURSE (FBI)

Kefasihan Bahasa Inggeris or FBI is divided into four categories which is writing,
reading, listening and speaking. It is just as same as English but it is more general.
The first topic that we have learned is Multiple Intelligences. There are eight types of
it which is verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinaesthetic,
musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalist. We have to answer the given questions so
that we will be able to gauge which form of intelligences are our strongest and weakest. This
will enable us to focus on making sure that we make the most of our existing abilities.
After that we enter the topic called Learning Styles. From this topic we know that
every people have different learning styles. Some learn by seeing, some learn by listening
while others learn better by touching and feeling. I think, as a teacher, we should never
pushed our students to follow our learning styles, just let they go by their own way but still
encourage them to add the way of their learning styles. I am sure, variety of learning styles is
better for them.
Besides that, we also learn on how to be a good language learner. We have to list out
our strengths and our weaknesses, then come out with ideas and strategies to overcome our
problems. Next, we learn about vocabulary. From this, we were taught to add our vocabulary
by making a mind mapping, a diagram and a poem. It was very interesting. Then we study
about language focuses on word classes such as nouns, pronouns, adjective and etc.
In listening, we learn English by listen to the song such as Stand By Me by Shane
Ward, Colours of the Wind by Vanessa Williams and another rhythms. It was very fun and
relaxed. For me, this method is the easiest among others to learn languages.
Meanwhile, in reading, we had been given a poem titled Malaysian Love Song by
Cecil Rajendra and passages about batteries and The Search for the Girl with Green Eyes.
We have to read carefully and then answer the given questions to test our understanding. I
learned a lot of vocabulary and meaning for word and sentences from this.
We also learned about writing and its techniques. In this part, we learned about
conjunctions. We have to write poems and compositions. For me, this is the hardest part in
learning English because we have to come out with so many ideas. Sometimes, it was hard
for me to find the words. Our vocabulary and grammar must be good to produce a good
writing.

In my opinion, learning FBI helped me improve a lot of my English languages. I

learned about strategies and techniques to teach students. Hope that I can apply it for my
students.
