Advancing Education Fore Our Families

College graduates are 5.3 more times likely to leave the
low-income status than non-graduates and 2.5 times more
likely to reach the middle-income group. (Source: Pew Charitable Trust)
In 1991, San Antonio Housing Authority developed the Education Investment
Foundation (EIF) to promote individual self-improvement and family selfsufficiency. Its efforts focus on raising funds to support college scholarships,
incentives for academic achievement, and community events. Since its
induction, EIF has awarded over $725,000 in scholarships. EIF seeks to
meet the educational needs for residents of all ages. Additional programs,
resources and achievements include:
17 library installations at SAHA properties
50 WiFi installations at SAHA properties
Financial literacy and college planning workshops provided to
over 2,400 residents
2015 Award of Excellence from the National Association of
Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO)
As a nonprofit affiliate of San Antonio Housing Authority, EIFs goal is to help
the traditionally under-served families of our community so that they can
emerge as prepared and valued members of our community. Currently, EIF
administers the only local scholarship fund for residents of Public Housing
and Section 8 Programs.
