Reflection Letter:
Coming into UWRT 1102, I was not exactly sure what to expect. I had recently
taken UWRT 1101 in the previous fall semester, so I was really hoping that it would be
the same, or at least similar. I found this to not be true. UWRT 1101 was based more on
writing papers and establishing my writing identity. While, UWRT 1102 has been more
about doing presentations and how to address the professional world. I feel as though I
have learned different lessons in each of these classes. From writing my reflection letter
for my e-portfolio in UWRT 1101, to now writing my reflection letter for UWRT 1102, I
have learned a lot more about my writing style and my strengths and weaknesses with
presenting.
During UWRT 1102 I was challenged with learning how I am as a presenter,
while still continuing to challenge myself to grow as a writer. I feel as though these two
aspects came hand in hand this semester. For example, for one of our daily writings we
had to change the audience from our peers to children, to talk about our semester long
project topics. This was difficult for me at first because, I had never really tried to, or
even thought about changing the audience of my writing. I had to change the types of
words that I used and how I held the conversation. Instead of stating a lot of facts, I was
interactive and asked questions. With this practice and the professors help, I now feel

like I know how to write certain papers to certain audiences, instead of trying to address
the same audience each time.
One of the main things that I struggled with over the semester was making the
presentations. In the past, I have never been the best at presenting. When I heard that
we had to do two this semester, I was very worried. The first presentation had to be the
hardest for me out of the two. Being a single person project, I was afraid that I was not
going to know what to do, or how to do it. I did not want to make a long and boring
presentation, but I did not want to leave any important information out. When I
presented this project, I felt as though I was boring everyone with too much information
and not enough of a digital aspect. I learned from this presentation the moment I sat
down. To have a good presentation you have to have the information, but another very
important aspect to have is digital. Digital things such as images and videos. I put my
new knowledge into my groups Carolina Panthers project. I shortened my slides and
added pictures and a video. There was a lot more interaction with this presentation,
than there was with my single person presentation. In the end, I feel as though I did
succeed. I came out with new knowledge and an awesome group presentation.
This semester I had a few works that I really liked, but there is one in particular
that I can say I gave it my all and is my best. This would be my e-portfolio. I have put a
lot of time and effort into this website. I feel as though my past experience with eportfolios, has motivated me to do even better. I constantly looked back on my UWRT
1101 e-portfolio and just saw what I could improve on and certain skills that I could
transfer onto this e-portfolio. This has not been the easiest, I will not lie. I have had to
add some different material in different ways to this e-portfolio this semester than I did

last semester. I got to explore different avenues of my writing and presenting. I also, got
to look back and reflect on myself and the work that I have completed over this past
semester.
In conclusion, I feel as though I have grown to be a better writer, than I was at the
end of last semester. Everything that I have done this semester in UWRT 1102, has
contributed to that. From the daily writings to the word prompts and the presentations. I
have not only learned how to work better for myself, but how to work better with a group
of my peers. I am looking forward to showing all of my skills that I have learned in my
future endeavors.
