bittogatheralltherequiredinformationinstructuredformatasIdidnotgetanysuitable
templateoninternetandSDNsite.FinallyIhavedecidedtoprepareagenerictemplate
foranyupgradeprojectsothatIcanuseforanyclient/company.BeingaSAPBasis
upgradeconsultant/architect,whatisthemostimportantinformationIneedformy
upgradeproject,sothatitwillhelpmetosmoothlyexecuteanddelivertheprojecton
timeandcancovermostoftheunknown(s).Frommypersonalexperience,atechnical
upgradeassessmentisacombinedeffortofSAPBasis,DBA,infrastructureand
functionalteam,primarilydrivenbyBasisupgradeconsultantordesignatedproject
manager.Sincethisisatechnicalassessment,Iwillnotcoveranyfunctional
specificationsorinformationaboutaffectedcustomizedprogramsandchanges.The
mainfocusoftechnicalassessmentistocollectinformationaboutsourcelandscape,
interfacesandtargetlandscapewhatisgoingtobechangedandwhatare
interdependencies.Finally,whattoolyouwilluseandhowyouwilltranslateor
implementthesechangesandresolveallinterdependencies.Alotofupgradeprojects
needtoperformbothupgradeandUnicodemigrationformallywecalledCU&UC
(combineupgradeandUnicodeconversion).SoIwillcoversomeofthecritical
assessmentpointsofUnicodemigrationtoo.
Aassessmentreportvariesfromcompanytocompanyitmaybeasimplepage,two
pagedocumentoracomprehensivereportwithdetailtechnicalspecifications.Ihave
