Allenton Parade
Allenton is a peaceful serene area centered among the gentle rolling hills in
the town of Addison. Settled in 1882 as a passenger railroad depot near what
is now Highway 33 and 41, Allenton was named in honor of assistant railroad
superintendent Andrew A. Allen. Featuring a delightful business district, attrac-
tive parks and abundant wildlife areas for sportsmen and outdoor apprecia-
tors alike, Allenton provides great family fun. Allenton offers an intriguing bed
and breakfast as well as fine restaurants. The summer months bring the annu-
al auto show and fireman’s picnic, sure to be entertainment for all ages.

Overflowing with a robust Irish heritage, Erin is home to Washington
County’s most visited site, The National Catholic Shrine of Holy Hill. Settled in
1841 by Irish immigrants, Erin’s Kettle Moraine landscape was attractive
because it resembled the tree-covered rolling hills of Ireland. There are end-
less things to do in Erin including taking a hike along the Ice Age Trail, a guid-
ed tour at Holy Hill, or a drive along a rustic road. Erin’s yearly claim to fame
is a day-long celebration to mark St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th when all of
Erin, residents and visitors alike, go green for the day.

Only 30 minutes from downtown Milwaukee, you’ll enjoy the rural charm of
the suburban community known as Germantown. Visitors experience the rich
ethnic heritage of Old World Main Street through its European style architec-
ture, German import specialty shops and historical sites. Whether it be the
Christ Church Museum, the Wolf Fachwerk House in the Dheinsville Historic
District, or the 5,000 piece bell collection at the Bast Bell Museum,
Germantown is a must-see for all ages. Experience the gemutlichkeit of
Germantown’s fine restaurants and pubs, or settle in at one of four hotels.

A dynamic, progressive community, Hartford is set in the rolling hills of rural
Wisconsin. The uniqueness of Hartford begins with the historic downtown section,
specialty shops, the Wisconsin Automotive Museum and the turn of the century
Chandelier Ballroom. TheSchauer Arts & Activities Center is a new cultural arts cen-
ter presenting music, theater, dance and the arts. Maxwell Street Day invites all to

Maintaining small town charm, quaint characteristics and the Milwaukee
metroplex within reach, Jackson is a fast growing community located at the
crossroads of two major highways. Both the Town and Village of Jackson pro-
vide numerous recreation opportunities for residents and visitors alike. The
community celebrates its annual Action in Jackson festival as well as a Music
in the Park series each summer. Home to the Jackson Historical Society, as
well as a number of nationally and internationally marketed industries,

This pleasant village built along a sharp bend in the Milwaukee River, is home to
a variety of businesses, including a 27-hole golf course, downhill ski & tubing
facility, unique specialty shops, pubs, and casual dining establishments. Named
after a local Potawatomi Indian Chief whose name translates to “turning on its
track”, Kewaskum has become well known as the Gateway to the Northern Unit
of the Kettle MoraineState Forest. The Eisenbahn Hiking/Biking Trail runs through
the village and connects with the Ice Age Hiking Trail. The area offers camping,
swimming, horse trails and boarding facilities, hunting, fishing, and cross coun-
try skiing. Relax and make yourself at home with us in Kewaskum.

Nestled along the Milwaukee River, this friendly community offers affordable
and attractive getaway opportunities no matter the season. Newburg is also
home to a wonderful preserve and educational facility just northeast of the vil-
lage. Spring canoeing and the summer firemen’s picnic with softball tourna-
ments and golf are sure to please. In fall, take a leisurely stroll or bike ride
through Newburg’s glacier-created rolling terrain. After a winter’s day on the

Less than 20 miles northwest of downtown Milwaukee, the Village of Richfield
provides brilliant sightseeing and diverse recreational opportunities. Western
Village of Richfield's unique topography is a result of the last ice age's glaciers,
some 12,000 years ago. Journey along the only road atop an esker formation
in the state, as well as, miles of state designated Rustic Road. Try your hand at
the 54+ holes of golf at courses throughout the village. You can cross country
ski, snowshoe and snowmobile in the winter. Several lakes provide public and

Originally named after its first general store owner, Baruch Schleisinger, the
village name was shortened to Slinger in 1921. Located in the center of
Washington County, Slinger offers a variety of retail shopping area and
specialty stores. Many fine dining and casual restaurants are sprinkled nearby.
If you seek year round recreation, Singer is home of the fastest quarter-mile
oval stock car racetrack and for winter fun; fireman's Park Annex has a sledding
hill and ice rink. Nestled between the county's biggest and best lakes, Slinger
offers something for everyone.

for weary travelers before the days of the railroad and was also home to the
Potawatomi and Menominee Indians. Characterized as a growing and prosper-

hard work, strong faith and family. With the Milwaukee River as the thread weav-
ing West Bend into an extraordinary fabric, the locality encourages relaxation and
rejuvenation with its many recreational, cultural and historical attractions.

The breathtaking Holy Hill National Shrine of Mary proudly

The City of Hartford established its first parkland in 1917 when land was acquired for East Side Park,
which today is known as Willowbrook Park. The Hartford Park system is made up of seventeen rec-
ognized sites, totalling over 200 acres of land. The park types and sizes make a diverse offering of
recreational resources for the community and include mini-parks, neighborhood parks, communi-
ty parks and special purpose parks. There are active use parks with picnic shelters, playgrounds,
trails, swimming facilities and athletic fields. There are passive park sites that preserve the beauty of

With more than a dozen parks and over 1200 acres of parkland, “There is something for everyone with-
in the Washington County Park System.” Glaciers shaped the rolling hills and lakes that provide all types

West Bend’s Park System*

The City of West Bend's Park System provides a diverse environment with its parks, rivers, ponds,
wetlands, rental buildings, sport complexes, picnic areas and beautiful riverwalk. With its 19 devel-
oped parks and over 1231 acres of scenic parkland and creative recreational programs, West Bend is
the gem of Washington County. New in 2006, is the addition of the Quaas Creek Park Riverwalk,
which meanders through forest, wetlands and prairies. It features asphalt pathways, one-third mile
of boardwalk, Native American bird effigy mounds and a canoe launch. Also, in Regner Park you can
enjoy the Labyrinth Garden Earth Sculpture, which is an interactive community garden. Completely
