WindScale.
ThisscaleforestimatingthewindspeedwasnamedafterAdmiralSirF.Beaufort(1774
1857).Itisbaseduponobservingtheeffectofthewindoncommonobjects,suchas
smokeandtrees.
Thetablebelowwillhelpyourelateyourgatheredinformationtoassociatedlandandsea
conditions.Whilstitisimpossibletodictateamaximumwindspeedsuitablefordiving,
force5orgreaterisgenerallyconsideredthemaximum.Ofcoursethisisentirely
dependentonyourchoiceofsite,typeofboat,experienceofcox&diversetc.
