Introduction

Nowadays, computer has been widely use around the world. It applies to business, office
works, engineering, economy, defence system and more. The computer system builds up by 5
basic components such as the processor, random access memory, mother board, input-output unit
and hard disk. All of these electronic components will be running series of actions or works
started from the input to the process, storage and lastly gives the output. The works of the
computer will produce heat, noise and undue power consumption result. The heat is mostly
produces from the processor has become the important issue because it may caused the computer
to malfunction, or failed permanently if overheated. Thus, the computer fan has been invented to
solve the overheating issue. The computer fan can be defined as the fan that is attached to a
computer case to expel warm air inside computer and draw cooler air into the case of the
computer system.
The computer fan speed must be suitable for the heat produces in order to gives cooling
effectively. Nowadays, most of the computers are being using the fan with AI control in order to
achieve suitable speed for certain temperature. The development of fuzzy logic in this consumer
product has been widely used in order to give better fan control. This fuzzy logic has become the
replacement of the conventional fan control method such as by using thermostarts, linear voltage
regulator, resistors, volt modding, pulse with modulation and more. The development of the
fuzzy logic allows the fan speed to be controlled automatically by referring to the temperature
inside the computer.

Development of Fuzzy Logic in Computer Fan

The fuzzy logic basically consists of 4 processes to be follows which are fuzzification,
inferencing, rule base/rule evaluation and defuzzification. Nowadays, the fuzzy inference process
does have several approaches which are Mamdani fuzzy inference method and Sugeno fuzzy
inference method. However, the Sugeno inference type has been proven the best in giving the
results in terms of performance and adaptability to other environment which making it highly
flexible for the application of computer fan. The input variables of the fuzzy controller are could

be CPU temperature, CPU frequency, board temperature, CPU core voltage and load quantity.
The output of fuzzy controller is the speed value of the fan (rpm).

Defuzzification

This defuzzification uses the software to convert from the fuzzy output to the crisp output.
However, they are usually use the technique likes the mean of maxima (MOM), Center of gravity
(COG) and The WAF, MAX-WAF and QM.
