Survey results...

 
This is a breakdown of what I have found from my sample of 25 people.  

I wanted a 50/50 result but as the survey was distributed randomly, I didn’t manage to get an equal 
amount of males and females. Therefore 14 males and 11 females took part in this survey. 

As the brief told us that the thriller had to appeal to 15‐18 year old, I decided to base my survey on 
people in that age group. The results show that 2 people who took my survey were aged between 12 
and 15, 22 aged between 16 and 20, and 1 person aged between 21 and 25.  

As my coursework is based on thrillers I decided to ask my sample if they had ever watched a thriller. 
The response was that 16 did and the 8 didn’t. One person did not answer this question. I believe 
that this is because they didn’t know what a thriller was. If I was to improve on this I would add a 
definition of that a thriller is before asking. This also shows that over 60% of my audience watch 
thrillers. Therefore I would have to advertise my thriller to this group of people more than the 40%.  
  

In order for me to decided what people would like to see I decided to ask what other genre should 
be incorporated in this thriller. Majority of my samples said Action, 41.7%. I believe that this is 
because my sample consisted of more males than females. The second favourite was Crime, 25%. 
The third was Horror and Drama, with 16.7% each. This gives me an idea that my audience what an 
Action or Crime thriller. However two people prefer to watch comedy thrillers. This result show that 
my audience all look for different elements to a thriller. And one person did not answer this 
question. I believe that this is because they didn’t know what a thriller was.  

I ask this to get more of an idea on what to base my thriller on. However the question was too vague 
so I got a lot of different answer. I got many different examples of thrillers and I also got people who 
described what they wanted in the thriller and others who didn’t have a clue on how to answer the 
question.  There were others who just didn’t answer the question.  

 
From these results I have an idea on what my audience what and I am know going to review my 
initial ideas and try and implement these ideas into them.
