    Overview
    a. Dates of Conflict
    i. June 28th, 1914, Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary and his
    wife (and unborn child) are killed by Bosnian youth Gavrilo
    Princip. The next month, Austria-Hungary declares war on
    Serbia, and the next day, Austria-Hungary bombs the capital of
    Serbia, Belgrade. On August 1st, Germany declares war on
    France. August 3rd, Germany declares war on France. The first
    battle action occurred August 4th in the Battle of Liege on die
    Westfront, and lasted until August 16th. Trench Warfare was first
    used in the First Champagne Offensive on December 10 th. The
    last great battle, the Battle of the Sambre, occurred on the 4 th of
    November. November 11th, 1918, Armistice is declared, and the
    war is over.
