Techniques and principles in language teaching

The work of teaching is a very complex task, its simultaneously mental,
social, practical and behavioral, despite these dimensions and perhaps
others, it is a huge responsibility because teachers have to support and
guide students in the learning process. To teach English as a second
language is a challenge, but its even more difficult to teach a foreign
language to preschoolers, thats why is necessary to use and learn about
different methods and techniques.
Teachers are creators of different forms of knowledge, they make
decisions about which way is the best one to teach their L2 students,
teacher education must serve two functions: It must teach the skills of
reflectivity and it must provide the discourse and vocabulary that can
serve participants in renaming their experience it is important for their
sense of self-efficacy (Freeman 2002: 11).
The knowledge of methods is essential for the teacher; it helps to
expand her repertoire of techniques. The way a method is implemented
in the classroom will depend not only on the teacher, but also on the
students, because theyre shaped by a teachers own understanding,
beliefs, style, and level of experience.
The implement of different methods, drills and games in the learning
process

benefits both children and educator,

to apply

different

techniques motivate students to get involve in their own learning, it

doesnt exist the perfect method, everything depends on the
characteristics of the target group and the teacher.
