The First interviewee says she came from Davao City, and is a solid
Duterte fan despite the recent bad media about him saying he only talks that
way but deep down he has a soft heart, he acts when he needs to and is very
playful when hes in the mood. In a family of 3, having only a daughter, shes
only been in Cagayan de Oro for 3-4 years now, though shes been in and out of
it. She even states that if you think Macasandig is bad now, then it must have
been awful then. If it werent for the new 24/7 stores that opened recently,
holdappings were pronounced, even in broad daylight. Only active when given
the chance, Nanay is not exactly into the barangay festivities unless of course if
absolutely necessary. She was absolutely kind to us, and she looked younger
than she seems. She owns the store and has only one employee to help her out
who doesnt seem any older than she is. At first she seemed closed off and
hesitant, but as time goes by she became quiet the talker and was even shy for a
picture, but she caved in nevertheless. She even asked for my name and school
and blessed us good bye, stating she was glad she met us.

The second interviewer was a very closed off woman, crowded by the
things she sells, she was very hard to talk to. But when we asked where she truly
came from and she said from Iloilo our smiles grew, one of our group mates was
Mikaelo Bombeo, who originally came from Iloilo. When they started talking in
Ilonggo everything became lighter. She talked about how the new buildings
made Macasandig crowdier, but she claims sales have been the same in her 15
years of stay here. She has a Seaman for a husband and built the store to keep
her busy. Her husband is based in Europe and she moved in Cagayan de Oro
because his family is here, its romantic, really. They have 2 kids, a daughter and
a son. She still comes to Iloilo often and says that traffic in Iloilo is less compared
to here in Cagayan de Oro. Nevertheless she assured us that she never regretted
coming to Cagayan.

Reflection:
The interviews and the research was a great experience. Something
Id want to look back to, the mustering of courage in order to start a conversation
or the overcoming of mental blocks in order to make the conversation going. My
house is just two blocks away from the covered court, which means every time
they hold an event we all would have to pull an All-nighter if they would host a
party. But Im not exactly active in my barangay either, Im not sure but maybe
its just how we were raised. Despite being in a loud community we had always
been closed off, before we were even labeled snob, but we had always shared
food and clothing to our neighbors so a few years back that label dissolved.
Thats the reason why the adventure we did in walking around places I dont
normally go to is something Id love to cherish. Its not every day we get to
interact with these types of peoplesomeone whos more aware of the society
than we are, someone who has strong opinions about the government and
someone who has more experience and hold wisdom more than we could
imagine. Its a great experience, and Im hoping for more of these activities to
come.
