Human Being and the Environment
Introduction
Human adaptation is one of the key facts for human survival. For a human being to be
able to survive in an environment, he/she needs to accommodate the changes that take place in
the environment. As a result of industrialization and globalization, the environment is no more
conducive to human survival (Goudie 11). A case example, of how human beings are not
adapted to their environment is the case of Syrian citizens. The country is not conducive to them.
Hence, they have opted to move to other countries in Europe and Africa for survival. As a result
of the civil war as well as the fight against ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and Syria) the country is
not a home to the Syrians who depended or this environment for wellbeing (Stokols, Daniel,
Lejano, and Hipp 13). Therefore, this paper will discuss, human anthropology on human
environment.
Best Environment Characteristics
Based on the case example, a good environment is one that offers the people or human
being basic human needs. It should be one that offers the people shelter, food and supports
provision or access to clothing (Stokols, Daniel, Lejano, and Hipp 11). Secondly, an environment
that human being would best adapt is one that is secure. Security is considered as a fundamental
prerequisite of a conducive human environment. If a human population gets a secure
environment, this means that the population will be best adapted. Thirdly, an environment that

offers basic social elements such as social wellbeing and social amenities is considered as the
best environment.
For example, an environment that supports social values such as the provision of social
education to its people is considered as an adaptive environment. Lastly, a good environment is
one that accommodates both individuals and communal values (Veena, et al. 229). The current
Syrian environment does not support either hence cannot be considered as an adaptive
environment. Besides, it is vital to consider that a good environment not only supports or human
right provisions but also should support basic human values. Such values include friendship and
value for human life (Veena, et al. 230).
Therefore, it means that human beings adapt to an environment that supports all the
above condition. The case example did not support the conditions hence considered as a bad
environment for human survival.
Decrease in reproductive fitness of individuals
The current Syrian does not support reproductive growth or fitness in many ways. The
following are the ways in which it deprives reproductive fitness:
First, since the country or the environment does not support a peaceful place for humans
to stay, they have opted to move or migrate to other places to seek an alternative environment. As
a result, the movement from to new environment does to give them time to undertake their
reproductive responsibilities (Veena, et al. 229). Secondly, lack of some of the basic needs such
as shelter and food deprives them of reproductive needs and demands. Rather they people work
towards meeting this needs rather than working towards their reproductive growth. Lastly, social
facilities such a hospitals among others are not available to support reproductive growth hence

the decline in reproductive fitness of the human population in Syria (Stokols, Daniel, Lejano, and
Hipp 50).
Conclusion
Deprived human environment cannot support human survival. Loss of reproductive
fitness is one of the impacts of such an environment. As a result of the movement the Syrians in
the current and past environment, the countrys population cannot upkeep with labor needs.
