PERFORMANCE TASK:
Digital video editing.
GRADE:
High School grades 9 thru 12, and/or adult education.
DESIGNER:

PERFORMANCE TASK:
The student will learn how to download and/import footage into the non-linear digital editing
application, Final Cut X and perform basic editing moves.
SUBJECT:
Audio/Video Technology & Film.
APPROXIMATE DURATION OF PERFORMANCE TASK:
Initial quiz or assessment will take 30 mins. Designing and editing final project duration will be 2-5
hours.
FOCUS STANDARD:
Georgia Department of Education; Course Standard 8, AAVTC-AVTFI-8; 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6
COMPLENTARY STANDARD:
AAVTC-AVTFI-3: 3.1-identify and utilize trade terminology in the media production lab, 3.2-identify
and utilize trade abbreviations and acronyms as appropriate.
NATIONAL STANDARD:
The national ISTE standards followed; Teacher standard #3: Model digital age work and learning; a.
Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and
situations. Student ISTE standard #1: Creativity and Innovation; b. create original works as a means of
personal or group expression.
TEACHER/TRAINER DIRECTIVES:
1. Teachers should have computer lab(s) prepped for students. If students working remotely teachers
should prepare an introduction video/presentation showing students how to log into the LMS, and or
use the computer lab. 2. teachers have videos lined up and marked in proper order. 3. teachers have
group forums ready and available for immediate use by students for communication/interactions.
4. teachers have list of instructions or video prepared for demonstrating the upload procedures for file
sharing of final project.

RUBRIC DESCRIPTION:
This is a simple rubric that will guide the students final project and elements that should be considered
and adhered to. Students will receive peer and teacher feedback on the viability of their final projects.

SETTING:
The course is design to be self contained. Students can work at home, at school or wherever they
choose remotely. Instructors can monitor their progress using whichever LMS they choose. The final
product can be uploaded to any file sharing website: youtube, Facebook and more.
21st TECHNOLOGIES USED:
The technology used is the latest video editing software version of Final Cut Pro X. The website(s)
used to create the initial assessment/test is: https://www.qzzr.com. Qzzr.com allows the instructor to
create a short quiz as an assessment tool to gauge the learners level of knowledge.

A. Avid. B. Adobe Premiere, C. Final Cut.
DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING:
This course doesn't allow for much differentiated instructional. Digital media is a visual and auditory
medium and requires the student not be impaired in these areas. Students with learning disabilities can
be accommodated as needed.
LEARNERS:
The learners are students high school age to adult 14-adult, both male and female and all ethnicities.
This could be a supplemental course for continuing education or a part of the high school curriculum,
audio/visual technology program.
Upon completion of the course students will be able to: Creating storyboards/shot list, importing and
exporting footage into the editing application, drag and drop footage based on editing decisions,
familiarity with Final Cut Pro X user interface, perform simple cuts and transitions, creating title
graphics, export completed projects for sharing.
