Standard Operating Procedure for Interfacial Tension Meter and Water Content

INTERFACIAL TENSION METER

Reference : IS 6104: 1971 ( Reaffirmed 2011 )
Scope: To find out the Indication of the presence of Hydrophilic compounds.
Equipment Used:
Beaker, Tensiometer, Weight box.
Procedure:
Fill the Beaker with 30ml of Distilled Water and measure the tension of 71 Dynes/cm.
By fixing the scale to 71 pour 20ml of oil to know the Tension present with the Insulating oil.
With the Formula attached can find the exact Interfacial Tension.
Calibration Required
As Per IS: 6104: 1971 ( Reaffirmed 2011 ) Clause no 5 We can calibrate the Weight box to know the
performance Tensiometer. And Beaker for exact measuring of Distilled water and Insulating Oil.
Please Refer the attached item Clause 5 Calibration of Apparatus

WATER CONTENT :
Reference : IS 13567:1992 (Reaffirmed 2013)
Scope : To find the water content using KARL FISHER method.
Equipments Used:
Syringe, Weight Balance, Titrator
Procedure:
Fill the Titration by using The Solution a) Anolyte b) Catholyte
With the help of Syringe Inject the oil sample.
The solution find out the weight of the Iodine content inside the oil, By entering the weight we can find
out the PPM

Calibration Required:
1) For Measuring Oil in ml syringe is to be calibrated.
2) For Measuring Oil in Grams Weight Balance is to be calculated.
For our reference we can use to calibrate With a Standard Reference Material with that we can find out
the Titrators Performance.
