Shawna is a natural leader, problem solver, and an exceptional educator that relates well with students. ‘Shawna was hired to help target instruction for students that were struggling in mathematics. She started the year by supporting a few lead teachers in the classroom, After a couple of weeks she thought of an inventive schedule change that would allow for more direct support for students that needed help the most. The support in the classroom and through small group instruction was sso successful in the 7" grade that she replicated the model for 6% grade students as well. In addition to thinking outside of the box, Shawna has the ability to develop a positive relationship with students. Many students that are pulled out for specialized instruction feel that i is a punishment. Students were lining up for the opportunity to work with her over the course of the school year. 5 ‘Shawna infused 21" century teaching into her supports. She differentiated instruction through programs such as Catch up math and Khan Academy. She developed and updated students individual playlists based on results form in-class assessments and Map Test results. | believe that Shawna will be tremendous asset to the field of education.
