Project Work
Design and Fabrication of Low Turbulence Wind Tunnel : A wind
tunnel is an apparatus used to check the stability of an aerodynamic
model subjected it to different velocities. After considerable research
works on various wind tunnels and having sufficient scientific data
available our objective is to design and fabricate prototype of wind
tunnel. To achieve this, complete design and drawing of different parts
has been made under guidance of project guide. The fabrication is
made as per the design drawing. The changes incorporated in the
design aspect are in the first three parts of the tunnel. The fan, settling
chamber along with the honeycomb structure and the contraction zone
is replaced by an air blower. This is a by-product of the wind tunnel.
The length of the test section is reduced from 3m to 1m. This is a
major advantage in reducing the size of the tunnel. Diffuser, the last
part, is very important. This allows the easy flow of air from the test
section to the atmosphere without any backlash of the air from the
atmosphere. My role in the project was to do literature survey and
design the wind tunnel and after it got fabricated analysis of objects in
wind tunnel was carried out by other group of students.
We used projection manometer for finding the velocity of wind. We
made 2D and 3D in CATIA V5 software
Currently doing my M.Tech Project in HAL

Curricular:

Participated in National Conference on Developments and

Opportunities in Civil Engineering, Applied Sciences and Mechanical Engineering and
presented a topic entitled on Design and Fabrication of Low Turbulence Wind Tunnel
in May-2012.

Extra Curricular: Participated in State level TAE KWON DO championships. Won

state level medals
