Armored tanks
Inventor: Major Walter Gordon Wilson (Brithish Royal Naval Air Service)
Year designed: 1917
The first armored tank in service was the British Mark V tank in 1918.
The need for overcoming the trench warfare produced in WWI. Tanks
were utilized to cross the open fields between trenches and cross enemy
lines.
Armored tanks are still in service and are classified as main battle tanks
(MBT).
