formingacataractandhegaveuponpainting.Monetwasencouragedbyfriendsand
familytopaintagainandtheworkthatbecameofthisisknownashisWaterGarden
series.

painting.ThispaintingwasamajorpartinhisstyleaswellasthewholeFrench
Impressionistmovement.Thepaintingtakesplaceoverabodyofwaterasdawnis
approaching.Youcanseeabrightredsuncastashimmeralongthewaterandwarm
thehighestpartofthesky.Downlowerinthepainting,mostoftheobjectsarestillin
shadow.Thepaintingleadsmetobelieveitwasveryovercastorfoggyatthetime

orangethroughwater.

Thepaintingdoesnothaveloadsofdetailinthewayoflinesthattellyouwhatyouare
seeing,itsmainlythroughcolorshapeandthewayeachbrushstrokeislaid.Withall
hisbrushstrokescombined,yourmindpieceseverythingtogetherthroughtheuseof
color.Throughouthislifehewasapersonwhoneverwantedtostickbytherules.
