A BALANCED SCORECARD OF KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

A set of key performance indicators has been developed using a Balanced Scorecard. This will ensure all aspects of performance are monitored
regularly. The 4 themes covered by the scorecard are:

Safety of vulnerable children the safeguarding indicators are highlighted in bold.

Quality of services
Financial management
Human resources

A monthly monitoring report will be circulated . Managers with responsibility for teams or services will be developing team business plans with team
balanced scorecards. These will include the relevant balanced scorecard indicators and more specific indicators relevant to their service area. Clear
audit trails will need to be in place to validate the accuracy of the data.
In addition each quarter more detailed specialist reports will be produced on the following Child Protection, Looked After Children, Children in
Need, Children with Disabilities, Young people aged 16+, including care leavers. The specialist reports will contain information for service managers
and managers with responsibility for service planning and commissioning. The content of these reports is under discussion.
The first monthly Balanced Scorecard report will be produced by the end of June 2004. This will include data for April and May. Information on all
the indicators may not be available initially. It is envisaged that a full report will be available from August 2004. If information is only available
annually, for example GCSE results, the latest available information will be included.
The first quarterly specialist reports will be produced during October 2004. These will cover the period 1 st April to 30th September.
