Notes

The range of significant wave height is obtained by assuming the wave height which may jeopardiz
the lifting operation and the wave height lower than 3 m is assumed to be safe for lifting operation
these values have average values of occurance from the wave scatter diagram.

To simplify the analysis, the regular airy wave will be used in the simulation rather than the actual
The wave height in the regular Airy wave is obtain by calculating the maximum wave height, Hmax
obtained significant wave height, Hs, from the spectrum. The relation between Hmax and Hs can b
adopting Rayleigh distribution as an approximation to the distribution of individual wave heights. A
Goda (2000), the value of Hmax should be estimated by considering the duration of storm waves a
of waves with allowed tolerance for a range of deviation. The prediction generally employed falls w
Hmax = (1.6 ~ 2.0)Hs
