Meeting Effectiveness Scores Results

The team is working really well together. To control some of the chaos, we started using
the group tab in Canvas to post discussions and bounce ideas off each other. It seems to be
working really well, and we are getting our information to each other quickly and effectively. We
also had a new team member join the team, and he is jumping right in and taking on part of the
case load.

Solutions
Top Solution Choices:
1. One day a week, preferably Sunday, have a cleaning day. Cleaning day will consist of
everyone cleaning their respected part of the house. Food, music, and fun will be had
while cleaning day is taking place.
2. Everyone will have to sign a Clean House contract. This contract will ensure that
everyone knows and agrees to their duty of keeping the house clean. It will also allow the
roommates to choose their respective cleaning areas.
3. If a persons area is not kept clean, the other roommates will have permission to take
pictures, post the pictures on social media, and then proceed to mock the messy
roommate.
4. Create a Cleaning Chore Chart equipped with gold star stickers. Once everyone
completes their assigned cleaning area, they get a gold star!
5. Make cleaning the house fun, by rewarding those who clean with food, treats, a movie,
etc. Once a week, when all the chores are complete, those who participated in cleaning
get to go out and reward themselves.

Final Solution
Everyone in the house has to sign a Clean House Contract. This includes letting each
housemate choose a respective area of the house to clean. The contract also states that on
Sundays, cleaning day will commence. Everyone who lives in the house will clean together. This
will be a day of cleaning, fun, music, food, etc. as a way to bring the housemates closer together.

Possible Barriers to Final Solution

Barrier 1: A roommate is absent for an extended period of time due to vacation, a sports team
requirement, or sick, that area will go unclean, still leaving the house messy.
Solution: In an event that someone is absent for a period of extending over a week, all other
roommates will help by redistributing chores during their absence. If necessary have the chore
that requires the least amount of work to be done last.
Barrier 2: A roommate not happy with their cleaning assignment.
Solution: Roommates will purchase a board to list the chores on. Roommates will rotate chores
monthly so that each roommate will have responsibility for each chore.
Barrier 3: Some roommates might have busier weeks, (I.e. finals week, working long hours)
leading to chores being neglected.
Solution: Allow the affected roommates to choose another day to do their cleaning that week
based on their personal schedule.
Barrier 4: Roommates may have different cleaning standards.
Solution: Have a meeting to discuss the expectations of the environment. As a group decide on
what is acceptable and not. Ensure each roommate has a clear understanding of the expectations.
Barrier 5: What happens in the event that one roommate moves out, and another moves in?
Solution: In the event that a roommate leaves, all roommates will redistribute chores to ensure
each area of the house is being cleaned. When a new roommate moves in they will be
responsible for the area of the roommate who just left until it is time to switch again.
Barrier 6: If one of the roommates has an issue with the cleaning day being assigned to Sunday.
Solution: That roommate can be assigned a another day that works for them, while the others
will continue to clean on Sunday.

Possible Negative Consequences of Final Solution

If there is not a consistent amount of roommates it could lead to roommates having to more
work, and chores not being done properly or chores not being done at all. This could lead to
frustration and contention among the housemates. It could also lead to the apartment remaining
messy.
All roommates may not want to clean at the designated time. This could lead to conflicts and
contention between the roommates.
Roommates may still decide not to complete their chores for the week and parts of the apartment
will remain messy.

Roommates may become resentful of the situation and leave to find a more conductive
environment.
Roommates may disagree with the contract, and refuse to sign it.

Implement Final Solution

Step
Draw up a contract for the housemates to sign and be
bound to.
Create a list of the areas that need to be cleaned for
the housemates to choose from.
Organize a meeting for roommates to discuss and
agree to expectations. Ensure every roommates
agreement before breaking the meeting.
Create a follow-up checklist to be marked off every
Sunday to ensure all areas were done completely.
Create a contract with all the policies lined out, so
that if there is a problem in the future, there is
paperwork to back it up.
