KING-CHAVEZ LEADERSHIP & ARTS

ACADEMY
Community Assets

At King Chavez Leadership and Arts Academy, we embrace our role as the hub of a
transforming community. We partner with the members of our direct and global
surroundings and believe that these ongoing relationships foster the sense of
community that we need to support the needs of our school community members.

Citizens have the capacity to change the community story, to reclaim the power to
name what is worth talking about, to bring to context into being. Peter Block (2008)

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORTS
King-Chavez Leadership & Arts Academy believes that students need support academically,
socially, and emotionally.
Capturing Kids Hearts: Teachers cant always control what comes into their
classrooms. Capturing Kids Hearts shows them how to create high-achieving centers of
learning by strengthening students connectedness to others through enhancing healthy bonds
with their teachers and establishing collaborative agreements of acceptable behavior.

Leadership & Arts Integration: We are committed to promoting an environment of leadership
that incorporates intensive arts with critical thinking and academic success. Our students are
provided free opportunities to gain experience in theatre, dance, music and keyboarding, and a
recording studio. Infusing academics with the arts increases performance, engagement, and
retention.

health services to ensure our students are taken care of physically, emotionally, and medically.

in front of us through our community members makes us believe that we will reach great heights
academically going forward.
Round Rock Library: The Round Rock Public Library has a strategic plan to be the educational
fabric of the city by supporting and being a source of information, education, and entertainment.
They support our school with a multitude of materials from videos, books, book kits, audio
books, and technology. We partner with the Round Rock Public Library every year using a field
trip to communicate the materials and services to our students. Additionally, our students are
informed about the programs (especially summer enrichment programs) available throughout the
year to expand exposure to read alouds, volunteer projects, displayed art work, & more!
