STAAD PROCEDURE for PLATE DESIGN

(PLATES TUTORIAL)
1. Create geometry of the structure
-Structure type (space)(Add Plates)
-Snap Node / Plate / Quad, or Generate Surface meshing or copy paste
2. Specify Element properties
-Specify plate element thickness (General>Property>thickness (change uni
t to KN-cm)
-Specify material constant (Elasticity,Density,Poisson, Alpha)If checkbo
x was check it will assign the default
3. Specify support
*when modeled as
plate elements, the supports can be specified only at the nodes along th
ose edges, and not at any
point between the nodes. It hence becomes apparent that if one is keen
on better modelling the
edge conditions, the slab would have to be modeled using a larger number
of elements.
4. Specify loads
-Creating load cases
-Associating load to member
5. Specify the analysis type (Perform Analysis Print Static Check)
6. Specify the Post analysis print command
-Analysis Print>Post Print>Define commands>Element force stresses>(Print
element stresses/Print element forces)
-Associate the command
7. FINISH / RUN ANALYSIS
