The document provides information about the design project for the course Introduction to Building Technology at MIT in Spring 2006. Students will work in teams of 2 to select a building from the provided list. They will conduct a thermal balance assessment, lighting analysis, and acoustic analysis of the selected building. They will also propose a redesign of the building if located in a different climate and site. Short written reports are due for each analysis and proposal, between 3 to 5 pages each. Students must select their building and teammate by February 15, 2006 and report their choice to the TA, with at most two teams per building. It is recommended that students visit potential buildings before selecting.

The design project will include the thermal balance assessment, the lighting and acoustic analysis for a building selected at the beginning of the term by the students in teams of 2, as well as a proposal for redesigning this building if it was located in a different climate and site (this new location will be specified for each selected building later on). Short written reports will be due for each analysis/proposal (reports length: 3 to 5 pages each).
