Saying that I come from a very large family is an understatement. My dads
side of the family is ginormous and it still continues to grow. My father has twelve
siblings including nine brothers and three sisters and out of all of them the most
interesting relative to me is my uncle Carroll. My Uncle Carroll is the third oldest out
of all the siblings. My uncle was light skin and bald at the top of his head but he had
hair around the side. He was around 57 and very skinny around 135lbs. He wore tshirts and jeans just about every day. My uncle always looked fairly small to me but
he was so tiny because he had throat cancer and was going through chemo therapy.
Even though he was going through a rough time Uncle Carroll was always the life of
the party.
During the summer my dads side of the family would have cookouts just
about every other weekend and I would look forward to the good food and seeing
my uncle Carroll. He would always give me a peppermint or a piece of candy and
refer to me as little Sharon which is my mother. I will never forget the time when
my Uncle fell on his head and got a big knot on the top of his head. I was eight
years old when this happened and I asked him if he was an alien due to his
deformed head shape. While my Uncle was a blast in my opinion most of the rest of
my family saw him through the eyes of pity. He was a man receiving chemo who
was unemployed, making bad decisions, and a drunk. While everyone in my family
loves him he didnt always make their lives the easiest.

My Uncle Carrol lost the battle to cancer June 6 th 2010. I was very devastated
and it broke my heart even more to see my dad cry for the very first time. While I
recalled most on this information I called my dad and interviewed him for more
answers. Even during the interview I could hear the emotion in my fathers voice. I
still think about my Uncle often and I truly miss him.
