Professional Review
This course helped me to realize how much changed in designing effective online
instruction over the last 15 years. Throughout this class, I was able to gain the
knowledge of why it is important to study the foundations of instructional design
and learn about the different models in design but also the importance in
understanding the learner and how their needs should play into the design of a
course. When I first started working in online for K-12 education, I did not hear or
learn anything about instructional design. I learned through this class that many
methods of instructional design have been available for study for a long time; but it
is not something that I was able to study when I was in my bachelors program or
that the professors even discussed. It should a class that all undergrad students
take if only to understand that the learner should be at the heart of all lessons
whether online or face-to-face and this class does that.
