EDCEP 829 Learning Principles

Application of knowledge gained from Learning Principles:

Learning Principles provided me with knowledge that I use and will continue to use
every day. I currently have been working with an alternative program for going on 6
years. The purpose of the program is to assist students who are short on credits still
graduate on time. Our program has been approved by KSDE and grows every year.
My job is not only to administer the tests, but it has evolved in to students coming
to me for advice about the future. By learning basic theories and principles that
affect student performance as helped me to better serve my students. I have
started to give student basic assessments to help them identify their learning styles
and behaviors to help them be successful in the Flex program and the future.

General Information about the Flex Program:

Seniors who are significantly behind earning credits may have the option of being
enrolled in the Flex Program. Students are required to meet a minimum standard of
credits and take 4 short pre-test to determine whether or not they will be accepted
as an eSchool student in the FLEX program. Then, they complete the application
and orientation process that all eSchool students go through. To earn a diploma
through the FLEX program, the students must successfully pass the Official Practice
Test (OPT) and complete the missing coursework (government, financial literacy, PE,
fine arts, or CTE). It is an all or nothing opportunity, so if they do not complete the
coursework, they do not get the credits from testing. If you would like to be
schedule for the Flex Pre-tests, please call our office at 973-0500.
