Greetings!
We, the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) of Zamboanga City would like to present to you the
topics on apologetics catechesis which the CFD members could give to your interested
parishioners. Please refer to the attached copy containing the list of topics.
The modules are offered in line with the Acts and Decrees of the Second Plenary Council of
the Philippines in its document which reads, Faced with these realities, there is a need for
widespread catechesis and apologetics. We need not to apologize for apologetic catechesis.
Since its birth, Christianity has been subject to attacks from which it has had to defend
itself Apologetics has always been part of the pastoral and theological tradition of the
Church. We must today be willing and able to defend our teachings in public fora, and we
need to equip the faithful so that they can defend their faith. Parish Priests must encourage
and support the training of lay Catholic Faith Defenders (par. 222 pp.80-81)
The main objectives in giving these lectures are the following: a) to instruct the lay faithful on
the basic tenets of our religion so that knowing Christs teachings they may be able to live it in
their lives; b) to equip them with answers to questions raised against many Church doctrines; c)
to be able to train lay Catholics in the field of catechesis and apologetics and d) to form a CFD
chapter in the parish.
It would be our honor to be of service to your parish by providing doctrinal formation to your
parishioners in the faith which was handed down once and for all to the saints (Jude 1:3).
Also attached is a copy of the Endorsement Letter from His Eminence Archbishop Jose S.
Palma and the list of topics for the seminar.
