• Advent from the Latin word “adventus” means COMING.
• A season of the Liturgical year observed in most denominations as a
time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of
the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second
Coming.
• Advent is the beginning of the Liturgical Year.

 WHAT IS ADVENT WREATH?
• The advent wreath is the liturgical symbol of Advent.
• It is composed of four candles;
*three (3) Purples and one (1) pink.
• Each Sunday during Advent a purple candle is lit with the exception of the third Sunday of
Advent when a pink candle is lit on Gaudete Sunday or Rejoice Sunday.
