IN THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION

Senators Senator Kathleen Bannon and Senator Amelia Larson of Rhode Island introduced the
following bill;which was referred to committee
A BILL
To redefine the population of Americans eligible to take part in the Selective Service System
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF GIRLS NATION ASSEMBLED.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This act may be cited as the Selective Service Equality Act
SECTION 2. PURPOSE
The Selective Service Equality Act will change the prerequisites of the Selective Service System to
include women and exclude younger American citizens and certain American citizens who are parents.
SECTION 3. DEFINITIONS
Minors will be defined as those under the age of eighteen.
Parent will be defined as the legal guardian of a minor.
Single Parent will be defined as the sole legal guardian of a minor.
SECTION 4. SELECTIVE SERVICE EQUALITY ACT
The Selective Service Equality Act entails that:
A) The Selective Service System will be modified to require the registration of both male
and female citizens, amending Section 3 of the Military Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 453)
B) The Selective Service System will be modified
C) to require the registration of U.S. citizens and ages 22 through 26, amending Section 3 of
the Military Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 453)
D) The Selective Service System will be modified to exempt parents from inclusion in the
draft should they
a) Be in a state of pregnancy or have given birth within the last 3 months
b) Be the single parent of one or more minors
c) Be the parent of a minor with one parent already drafted
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall be effective for all citizens of the United States who turn twenty-two on or after January 1,
2020.
