ACTIVITIES:

We started our tour of duty on January 5, 2015 as per instruction of our Municipal
Health Officer. We were informed that our beloved Provincial Health Officer II, Dr.
Rakiin, told our MHO of the said starting duty hours. Though, we were later informed
through SMS of the upcoming Mass Contract Signing on January 9, 2015 Friday.
On January 9, 2015 mass contract signing held at Social Hall, Provincial Capitol,
Marawi City was attended by the renewed NDPs and MECAs. Awarding of the welldeserved NDPs and MECAs were also steered.
Student Nurses from Mindanao State University College of Health Sciences
once again conducted their community exposure in our Municipality. It was a 5-day
community exposure. They stayed in the municipality for 24 hours as part of their
community immersion.
On January 5, 2015 (Monday) students had their orientation to the different DOH
Programs and RHU routines with the PHN Norol-Anah D. Macapodi, RN, RM, MPA. On
January 6, 2015 (Tuesday) they have conducted house to house visit and pregnancy
tracking on Barangay Buada Babai with my supervision, the BHW as well as my coNDP, Jormiah Bascara. We have tracked 9 pregnant women and give health services to
them such as Ferrous Sulphate supplementation and health education. During the visit,
they have also inviting the mothers for the incoming Mothers Class on Friday. Although
it was raining, students were eager to do home visit.
January 7, 2015 (Wednesday) on this busy day, students went to Main Health
Center for EPI and Consultation. I have been tasked to supervise the students in the
vaccination. They have learned a lot from immunization to prenatal to TB DOTS. I, being
the supervising NDP enjoyed teaching them the community health nursing. In January
8, 2015 (Thursday) students have their quiz on the different DOH programs and
Community Health Nursing. After the said quiz, they went home to gather needed things
for the Mothers Class and went back to the BHS where there is a 24 hours duty.
Thursday, January 22 year 2015, I received a call from a representative of the
Integrated Provincial Health Office regarding the seminar-training on Family Planning/
Competency-Based Training Level I (FP/CBT 1) to be held at Em Manor Hotel,
Malagapas, Cotabato City.
The said training on Family Planning was a 5-day event in which series of
activities were done. We travelled from Marawi City to Cotabato City on January 25,
Sunday noon. We gathered at the IPHO at noon and was welcomed by our Supervisor
Mrs. Bernadine Saber, RM. We were in a convoy of three cars each containing 8
passengers. The travel was approximately 4 hours. It was a long ride actually. Some of

the NDP were first-timers in the city of Cotabato. As for my case, I was a former
Cotabatenio. We have reached the venue approximately 5:00 in the afternoon.
Regional Health Secretary DR. Kadil Jojo Sinolinding had his short speech
during the training and fortunately, we had the chance to have a short conversation with
him. His words are enlightening.

LEARNING/INSIGHTS:
Success is not the key to happiness; happiness is the key to success. If you love
what you are doing, you will be successful.
I have been in the community service for quite a long time now, from the RNheals
batch 3 at Pantar, Lanao del Norte to RNheals batch 4 at Ramain, Lanao del Sur and
just recently as part of the NDP. With such exposure to community service and the love
and happiness Ive been receiving from my co-worker or shall I say my friends in the
field, achieving success on my part is never a dream but a reality.
The people I have worked with and our shared happy moments, even our
downfall, made me realize and appreciate the sayings mentioned above. I have been a
successful community health nurse because of the positive environment surrounding
me. This year marked the start of a refreshing new experience.
I am lucky enough to achieve all I have achieved for the past years and would
like to share it to all the people I have been with the recent years. Work is work when
you dont love what you are doing, but work is a habit when you feel positive about it
and loving what you are doing. And with this in mind, I can say that success has been
achieved.
I may not be a consistent awardee but with the blessings I have and the people I
am working with asking for more may be too much.
During the training on FP/CBT I held at Cotabato City, I have made friends that I
can always rely on in times I need help. The training not just gave me additional
knowledge but additional friends as well. I got in touched with our regional Secretary on
Health, Sec. Sinolinding. I have established rapport with the officials of the region.
According to Sec. Sinolinding we are Idealist because we are Idealist. We
wanted to serve our people the best that we can because we are passionate and
devoted to our work.
I have appreciated the trust my RHU family gave me. With their help I made it
through the adversities in reporting and in times in financial burden.

ISSUES/ CONCERNS:
This month has been one of my busiest months throughout the duration of the
NDP. With the trainings I have and the routine work we do at the RHU and BHS. The
RHU is improving with the renovations initiated by our Head Dr. Normallah M.
Dimalotang-Alonto. Re-painting of the RHU, expansion of the RHU and etc. may
contribute to what we know as better health outcomes due to quality service because of
better health facility and service. There are no issues and concerns meet on this 1 st
month of 2015.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Consistent progress in the health facility and health services should be
maintained and the support from the different health stakeholders should be consistent
also.
