Ser y Estar

The verb ser is used to describe inherent physical or

personality traits.
Soy morena y no soy baja.
Mi hermana es gregaria y divertida.
The verb estar expresses some kind of change from
what is expected or viewed as inherent.
Mi hermana es gregaria y divertida. Hoy est triste y
seria.
Estar + -ando/ -iendo
The verb estar is also used to express an action or
event in progress. This is called the present
progressive.
El mundo est cambiando. The world is changing.
El profesor est hablando. The professor is speaking.
