Situation Analysis
The Center for Young Womens Health (CYWH) is a partnership between the Division of
Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine and the Division of Gynecology, at Boston Childrens Hospital
founded in 1998. Co-directors Dr. S. Jean Emans, Chief of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine,
Dr. Marc R. Laufer, Chief of Gynecology, and Phaedra Thomas, RN, BSN, Nurse Educator,
wanted to address an urgent need for education, clinical care, research, and health-care advocacy for teen girls and young women around the globe. What started as an idea for opening an
accessible medical library for young women, turned into an interactive and highly informative
website. Voted as a Top 50 website by Wellness Guru, the CYWH provides information on topics ranging from Acne to Zinc for young women, parents, educators and clinicians. Specific
topics include general health, sexual health, gynecology, medical conditions, nutrition and fitness, and emotional health.
The CYWH is able to continue its day-to-day operations as a non-profit organization
through the generosity of the League and through grants and gifts from their ongoing supporters. All the information provided is educational and informed by quality research. All guides are
written and/or reviewed by health care clinicians at Boston Childrens Hospital, ranked #1 by US
News and World Report, using first-hand experience, knowledge in the field, and PubMed literature reviews. In addition, specialists and experts are often asked to read and edit health guides
as needed.
The primary objective of this project for CYWH is to provide young women with resources to reference when preparing healthy meals.
Plan
To expand the CYWHs YouTube library of how-to cooking videos the Studio 5 team will write,
film, and and edit video content with no more than a minute running-time each.
Storyboarding and Script
The initial meeting with the client will provide our team with the groundwork to begin brainstorming ideas for the videos. All content on the storyboard/script will be pre-approved by the client
before filming can begin.
Filming and Editing
All filming and editing will be conducted by the Studio 5 team in the Simmons College Nutrition
Lab or in the Residence Campus kitchens. All filming and editing supplies such as a video camera and computer with video editing software will be provided by the team. If further information
is required to successfully create the videos, the team can reference the CYWHs on-site nutritionist.
Actors
Everyone who will appear on film is required to fill out a release form. All actors will be Simmons
College students or members of the Studio 5 team.
