Despitehisupbringingandabevyof
opportunitiesavailabletohim,Oornwas
interestedinonlytwothingsracingandthe
famethatcamewithit.FortunatelyforOorn,he
wasatalentedpilot.Heusedhisfather'smoney
topurchasehisfirststarshipandhiswinningsto
continuallyupgradeit.
Eventually,Oorn'sgoodgraceswithhisfather
ranout,andhewasonhisown.Hetraveled
fromsystemtosystem,lookingforraceswhere
hecouldenterhisstarship,theFiveCoins.
Duringoneraceinanasteroidsysteminthe
Sullustsystem,hisshipwasstruckbyanerrant
rock,knockingoutitsthrusters.Afterlosingthe
race,Oornbecamedesperateanddidwhathe
sworehewouldneverdoseekcorporate
sponsorship.
Turningtocertainunsavorytypesinthe
SoroSuubCorporation,Oornwasgivenmoney
torepairandupgradehisshiptoraceonbehalf
ofthecompanyinavarietyofdangerousruns.
Ofcourse,75%ofhiswinningswentbacktothe
companyfor"researchandmaintenance."
Foratime,Oornwassatisfiedwiththearrangement,winningaseriesofracesbyhugemargins.Themoney
startedpouringin,andhegainedquiteareputation.However,ashisrenowngrew,sodidthecautionofhis
investors,andtheykepthimoutofthemostdangerousracesmoreandmorefrequently.Frustrated,Oorn
begantothrowracesinhopesofgettingoutofhiscontract.Buthissponsorseventuallycaughtwindofhisplan
andthreatenedhimwithmorethansimplylosinghiscontractifhedidn'tstartwinningagain.
ThatpushedOornpasttheedge.Heplayedtheroleofthechastisedservantandpreparedtoraceoncemore,
allthewhileplanninghisescape.Pilotinganew,cuttingedgeshiptheequivalentofanEta2Actisclass
InterceptorOornrapidlyoutpacedandoutmaneuveredhiscompetition.Ashezoomedpastthefinishing
point,winningtheraceandenthrallingtheobservers,heturnedhisshipandwentintohyperspace,neverto
return.
Oorn'sformerpatronsbecamehisenemies.TheyhiredseveralbountyhunterstofindtheZabrakandreturnthe
stolenvessel,whichhehassincerenamedtheLastLaugh.Today,Oornisconstantlyontherun,bouncing
throughtheseediersystemstofindracesthatwillprovideenoughcreditstokeephisshipinorderand,of
course,forthesheerthrillofcompetition.Heknowsthatit'sonlyamatteroftimebeforehegetscaught,buthe's
determinedtoleadhispursuersonquiteachasefirst.Oornsupplementshisracewinningswithalittle
smugglingontheside,addingtohislistofcrimesforwhichabountyhuntermighttrytobringhimtojustice.

him.Oornisathrillseekerandliveslifeontheedge,preferablywhilegoingvery,veryfast.Althoughestranged

sabotagesthelifesupportsystemoftheshipinhopesofkillingoffthecrew,ejectingthemoutthe
airlock,andsellingtheirshipformorecreditstosupporthisracingaddiction.
AnotherbountyofsortsisplacedonOorn'sheadthistime,byhisfather,DonloorNoth.Theelder
ZabrakhirestheheroestofindhissonandbringhimhometoIridia,aliveandwell,beforeanyother
bountyhuntersgethimfirst.
