Hi. My name is Crystal Anne Compton and I am a

professional intuitive and spiritual teacher. I have over
300 videos on YouTube covering a variety of
metaphysical subjects, but the one subject people ask me
about the MOST is spirit communication.
Whether it's a desire to connect with a deceased
loved one or simply wanting some sort of validation that life does go on, people
are fascinated by spirits and eager to have their own personal encounters with
them.
I get it. I've been dealing with spirits of all types all my life -- in fact this is
my life. But it is also serious business. Make no mistake: you can absolutely screw
things up if you approach spirit communication the wrong way. Worse than just
wasting your time, you can also attract negative, low-vibration entities who have
no business sharing your space.
Believe me when I tell you that you do not want to do that.
I have taught many people how to tap into their spiritual gifts and talents and
I've also guided them in their explorations of the spirit world. Along with specific
spirit communication techniques, I've taught my students what they absolutely
must DO and NOT DO when attempting to communicate with spirits. The
interaction must be treated with respect and even honor. Spirits are people who
used to be alive -- but they are still people. Just as you use manners when dealing

with the living, you must also use manners (and a certain protocol) when dealing
with the dead.
To that end, and because I know you are interested in spirits too (why else
would you be reading this?), I have compiled a list of ten things you MUST do
(and not do) if and when you attempt spirit communication. These
recommendations are based on personal experience and many years working in the
world of Spirit. If you do these ten things, you are far more likely to have a
positive experience than a negative one. Let's begin.

1. Open And Close The Session

A spirit communication session opens a portal. This portal allows the spirit
you communicate with to enter into your experience, and then to exit. Just as you
open a portal to allow the spirit in, you must also close it after the spirit leaves.
People who fail to close the portal are the ones who report spirit attachment and
harassment, after the fact.
A simple prayer in the beginning of the session and one at the end will
suffice. Be specific in these prayers. Call in your angels and guides and ask for
their protection. Ask for God's blessing. Visualize your space being filled with
white light as you pray. State your intention and what you would like to see happen
in the session.
When you close, thank all souls for their participation and help. Also thank
the spirit who stepped forward to communicate, if that indeed happened. Then let
all parties know that the session is now over, and that the spirit with whom you

communicated must leave. Be clear about this. What you say goes, and if you are
clear and firm, the spirit will do as he or she is told. Ask your emissaries to insure
that the spirit leaves and that nothing is attached to you after the session is
completed.

2. Ground Yourself And Clear The Space

Make sure to ground yourself and energetically clear the room before
attempting to make contact with spirits. Grounding yourself involves visualizations
in which you connect with earth energy so that you can stay fully present during
the session. It also allows you to release all negative energy from your body and
space while at the same time drawing down into your body divine energy from
God.
To clear the space you can place a pinch of pure sea salt in each corner of
the room in which you will be doing your spirit communication. As you place the
salt, hold a strong intention about what you want the session to be. (I talk about
intention in the next item.) The salt will grid and anchor the space and provide
additional energy and protection.
Alternatively, you can burn a sage stick before and after your
communication session. This is an effective -- but temporary -- energy clearing
solution. (Sage lasts 2 - 3 weeks, total.)

3. Hold The Right Intention

Make sure you are attempting to communicate with spirits for the right
reasons. If you want to make contact because you think its cool, have a fascination

with death, want to frighten people or simply want to boast about it to others, you
are doing it for the wrong reason. You will also be more likely to attract an entity
that you don't want to encounter.
Your intention should be pure and rooted in the light. Perhaps you could
have an intention to only speak to spirits who are edifying or who have something
productive to offer you. Maybe you'd like to communicate with a deceased loved
one, or a light being like an angel or guide. These are positive intentions and will
draw the right type of spirits into the communication.

4. Do Not Drink Alcohol Or Take Drugs

Substances open a back door to the spirit world whether we are trying to
communicate with them or not. The energy of intoxication is not just low in
vibration, it is also powerful and magnetic. There is a reason we call alcohol
spirits. It often changes our spirits, and also attracts other spirits.
If we are under the influence of substances when attempting spirit
communication we are vulnerable and inattentive. This vulnerability allows all

sorts of energies to enter into the session, not the least of which are spirits who
may be mischievous or even malicious.

5. Do Not Be Negative, Imbalanced, Or Unhappy

Always remember that we attract what we are, so when we are unhappy or

negative when working with spirits we will attract those kinds of spirits to us.
Learn to see your moods as actual frequencies; signals you emit at a certain
vibration which in turn draw back to you energies and entities existing in/on the
same frequency. If your frequency is that of love, you will attract loving entities
back to you. Likewise, if your frequency is that of negativity, you will attract
negative entities to you.

6. Never Communicate With Spirits With Others Who Are Negative, Imbalanced,
Or Unhappy

For the same reason you should not be negative when attempting spirit
communication, make sure anyone that is with you in the session also shares the
same energy as you an energy of positivity and love.
Anyone with you as you attempt to communicate with spirits can either
contribute to or contaminate the process based on their own energetic disposition.
Be mindful of this. As a rule of thumb, only attempt spirit communication with
people you know and trust.

7. Do Not Be Overly Tired Or Fatigued

Being overly tired makes you physically vulnerable and less in touch with
what is going on. When we are fatigued or exhausted it is easier to misread
energies and misunderstand messages. In other words, it is easier for us to do it
wrong and to get it wrong.
Be well rested and physically sound before attempting to work with spirits.

8. Be Fearless

Do not attempt spirit communication if you are afraid of it. If you are
curious but also afraid (even a little), spirit communication is not advised.
Fear is an energy just as love is an energy. More importantly, fear is a
strong energy. The stronger the energy, the stronger the signal, which means the
more likely you are to encounter an entity who is attracted to the energy of fear.
This, as you can imagine, is a recipe for disaster.
If you are fearful on any level, I suggest reading books, taking classes, and
speaking to others who can educate you on spirit communication and make you
more comfortable.

9. Work Only With High Vibration Spirits

It is better to work with high-level entities such as angels and spirit guides.
Remember, earthbound spirits -- or "ghosts" -- are simply people who are dead.
People, no matter alive or dead, are limited by what they know and desire, just like
you. An earthbound spirit (or one that dwells more closely to the earth plane than
more enlightened spirits) may not know more than you, and they may also have a
different intention than you.

You will know an unenlightened or non-evolved spirit based on the rate at

which they vibrate. Love vibrates at a high, joyful, delightful rate. Alternatively,
negative spirits vibrate at a low, negative, fearful and uncomfortable rate. Learn to
differentiate between these energies and take heed of them.

10. Avoid Territorial Spirits

Spirits working for your edification and betterment will never tell you to
replace your judgment with theirs. They will also never tell you what to do or
control you in any way. High-level spirits make suggestions, offer insight and
present options. They want you to decide what choice is better for you and will
never force that choice upon you or become upset when you do not follow their
advice.
We live in a free will dimension and good spirits know this. They also honor
this. Never work with any spirit or energy that attempts to control you or wants
you to carry out tasks which are negative and do not feel right. This is a sure sign
that you are dealing with a non-evolved spirit and all communication from that
point on should be cut off.
