DECA

DECA student organization is an integral learning process within the Marketing program.
Through various leadership activities, the student learns the elements of management,
technical knowledge, problem solving, decision making, human relations, etc. As a result, all
students enrolled in the Marketing program are considered DECA members. All members
are expected to pay DECA dues and join this student organization. DECA provides the
opportunity for young people to learn leadership and professionalism, as well as compete
scholastically within their industry. DECA points will be distributed among each of the DECA
leadership activities for all students, based upon their participation which counts as 20% of
their total grade. DECA members will be given the opportunity to go on field trips and
leadership conferences to broaden their concept of various types of occupations and to
receive leadership training. This will be determined by approval of the teacher coordinator
and the students' other classroom teachers. Students should dress professionally for such
events. DECA members will pay dues in the amount of $25.00 which covers membership in
the DECAorganization at the local, state, and national levels, a DECA I-shirt, the ability to
participate in field trips and leadership conferences referred to earlier. Payment of DECA
dues should be received by September 5, 2016. There will be a candy fund raiser from
August 29 to September 2 to help raise these funds or student can pay cash or check to
PCH DECA.

Compete at DECA State this year in Tulsa, OK for a


chance to go to Anaheim, CA for the DECA International
Career Development Conference. #OwnYourFuture
PCO DECA is traveling to Seattle, WA this
year to attend the Western Region Leadership
Conference. Interested Students need to
attend an informational meeting during lunch
on Wednesday, August 31. Cost is
approximately $700 for hotel, registration &
flight.

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! I am excited to have your child in my class. The online pages outline my expectations for success in the
classroom. I ask that you not only read the expectations but also discuss them with your child. As you read these, understand that I present my
classroom guidelines as expected behaviors, not rules, therefore allowing students to make choices about whether or not they will fol low these
guidelines. As in everyday life, choices we make have results/consequences. If a student chooses to fol low these guidelines, they can expect to be
successful in the classroom. If they choose not.to, they should understand that the results they get may not be what they want.
I encourage parents to be involved in their childs learning and urge you to contact me at any time you have a concern or q uestion (contact information
