What is wifi?
Is a popular technology that allows an electronic device to
exchange data or connect to the internet wirelessly using radio
waves.
Wi-Fi can be less secure than wired connections (such as
Ethernet) because an intruder does not need a physical
connection. Web pages that use SSL are secure but unencrypted
internet access can easily be detected by intruders. Because of
this, Wi-Fi has adopted various encryption technologies.
The early encryption WEP, proved easy to break.
Higher quality protocols (WPA, WPA2) were
added later.

Dangers of insecurity
Using an insecure network can cause serious problems, such as:
Waste of money
If there are many users connected to the network, the connection speed will be lower,
and depending on the case, you can lose the connection.
Phishing
An experimented hacker can take ,for example, our passwords, send emails with your
email account, enter the intranet and delete or create false content.

Data Theft
The access to the information that isnt encrypted in our network, such as emails or
web pages we are visiting, it's easy for someone
with knowledge.

Protection methods
In order to hind the access of outsiders to our network we will develop a few simple
changes into the network configurations.

Change the router password

Change the network name
Change the network password
Use WPA2/PSK or WPA encryption (Never use WEP or none)

Demo
Now we are going to apply this tips in the router configuration, you will see that is a
very simple modification and how these changes increase notably the security of our
network.
It is important to spend a little time to ensure that the tools we are using are
protected and in good conditions, and they allow us to do our job the best way
possible.
