I obtained an Associate's degree

in Special Education from
Darton State College, where I
completed 30 hours of
shadowing experience. This
experience taught me that
managing a classroom will not
always be easy, but it will
forever be worth it. The most
important thing that shadowing
taught me was that my passion
was in Middle Grades Language
Arts. Throughout my education
experience, I changed majors,
learned lessons, understood
classroom management, and
discovered how to celebrate
diversity within the classroom. I
can only hope that my time at
GSW will do the same and
more.

WELCOME BACK

FALL 2016

Taking tests, whether it be a spelling test or a

standardized test, can bring on test taking
blues that we all seem to be scared of.
Parents, do you often see your child
struggling to study? Students, are you
experiencing anxiety when it comes to
assessing your knowledge? Lets try to make
it easy! Next time you feel those test terrors
creeping up, follow these important steps to
create some smoother sailing. Remember: if
you are having more than a little trouble,
contact Ms. Marissa. We will see about
getting some extra help! J

Before the Test:

1. Eat a healthy, balanced breakfast.
2. Get a good nights rest.
3. Study effectively using repetition,
flashcards, and highlighting methods.
During the Test:
1. Read all questions carefully and re-read to
find the answers.
2. Examine every answer choice before you
choose your final answer.
3. Label your answer in your answer in the
passage when you find it.
4. Always check your answers.
5. X-out any answers that you can determine
are incorrect.

concerns that anyone may have throughout the year. If you are writing as a parent, please send this
form back to me in your childs Take Home folder. If you are writing as a student, please seal the
letter in an envelope and place it in the teacher mailbox on your way into the classroom. I welcome
