INT. TELEVISION SCREEN; NEWS ROOM

On the television screen, Woodcrest news is covering the
beat down of a black man, Trey Williams, by five local
police officers.
JAMES RIVERS (V.O.)
(Anchor)
What happened in Woodcrest earlier
today between the police force and
an African-American individual has
caused such an uproar that many
people are coming to Woodcrest to
protest. Tina Nguyen is in downtown
Woodcrest with details on this
case.
TINA NGUYEN (V.O.)
(Reporter)
Thanks James. This is the very spot
where it is being said that Trey
Williams was stopped by two police
officers for a traffic violation.
After the stop, a scuffle broke out
in which Williams was badly beaten.
Williams had gotten tased twice and
received bruises and lacerations on
his face. Officers insist that
Williams was resisting arrest and
they only used necessary force.

Police chief, Richard Foley, addresses the public at a press
conference.
RICHARD FOLEY (V.O)
The police force is trained to
handle every situation in the best
way possible. Williams had been
stopped for running a red light.
When being questioned, he had
become hostile and at thats when
he had attacked our the first
officer. Backup had to be called in
to subdue Williams. Our sole duty
is to protect Woodcrest and its
people. I mean, I dont really
understand whats wrong with what
happened.

INT. GRANDDADS HOUSE IN WOODCREST- NOON

Granddad (Robert Freeman)-a self absorbed old man whos
goals in life revolve around meeting women-; Huey-a highly
intelligent 10-year-old African-American who recognizes and
detests the absurdities and injustices-; Riley-an
impressionable 9-year-old African American who embraces the
stereotypical "gangsta" lifestyle-; and Uncle Ruckus- a
middle aged African American man that believes hes white
and is racist towards black people- just finished watching
news report.
HUEY
Just another situation in which
black people are oppressed by the
police force.
GRANDDAD
Aint that a shame. cant take a
shit without the white man bringing
us down.
UNCLE RUCKUS
Dont blame the white man for
taking care of baboons like yall.
You should be thanking him for
letting you breathe the same air
that they do.
RILEY
A real nigga like me wouldve
thrown hands at those police.
GRANDDAD
This takes me back to my days as a
civil rights leader. I used to run
into situations like this all of
the time. The only reason why you
dont see me in all of the history
books is because people like Rosa
Parks and Martin Luther King like
to hog all of the spotlight.
UNCLE RUCKUS
Those were the good ol days. When
a nigga could be beaten and tossed
in jail without all of these damn
protests tarnishing the beautiful
white mans name.

GRANDDAD
Whats all that hollering?
HUEY
The protests have been spreading
throughout Woodcrest. It was only a
matter of time before they spread
here.
GRANDDAD
They better stop making all of this
noise outside of my house. How am I
going to get sleep tonight?
HUEY
Im going out to check it.
Huey leads the way out of the house, as everyone else
follows.

EXT. GRANDDADS HOUSE- NOON
Protesters are filing down Timid Deer Lane with signs and
megaphones while chanting and singing. Huey, Riley,

PROTESTERS (O.S.)
Justice for Trey!
Black lives matter!
UNCLE RUCKUS
Boo! Shut your nigga lips up. Yall
lazy niggas aint gonna change
nuthin.
The Freemans and Ruckus are approached by what seems like a
leader of the protest, Bobby Waters- a 25 year old
African-American that wants to bring about change-.
BOBBY WATERS
Hello my fellow African-Americans!
My name is Bobby Waters. Why dont
you join us in this movement to
free our people.

BOBBY WATERS
Well I hope youve seen the news
recently. We have to stand up for
ourselves. You will get the same
rights as everyone else.
GRANDDAD
Nope, not enough. Ive already done
my fair share of work. If you said
thered be pretty little ladies for
me then itd be different.
UNCLE RUCKUS
Ha! In your dreams. The white man
has blessed your kind enough. You
Africans are always asking for
more.

Granddad and Uncle Ruckus walk back to the house.

BOBBY WATERS
How about you guys. Are you trying
to bring change to the world?
RILEY
I would, but you guys are doing
this like a buncha bitches. If it
were me, Id run up into the police
station on some Scarface shit. Say
hello to my little friend!
BOBBY WATERS
Everyone has the right to act
however they want. We just believe
that violence isnt the best way to
get attention.
How about you little man?
HUEY
I see no point in joining this
movement. The system is made so
that the police and the government
can get away with terrorizing black
people. Ive seen this time and
time again, and the white man will
pay us no mind as usual. Plus you
guys cant handle me. If I wanted
to, I could turn everyones world
upside down.

HUEY
Do I need to tell you whats going

violence.
RILEY
No. You think you know everything.
I dont need advise from a bitch
nigga.
HUEY
Better safe than sorry. If you go
down this road, youre gonna be
sorry.
RILEY
Again, I dont need advise from a
bitch nigga. Ive got this whole

ED WUNCLER III
Alright then, whats the plan.
RILEY
I havent thought that far yet.
Whatever it is, it is to be so big
that niggas know how real we are.
RUMMY
Im thinking maybe we should start
by looting every store in Woodcrest
or maybe shooting up town hall.
ED WUNCLER III
Shit Rummy, why dont you just burn
the whole place down. Then wed
have nowhere to thug on.

I understand the need for change
within society for
African-Americans. Our people are
treated like pawns and because of
this the value of our lives are so
much lower than that of the white
man. This is all old news. I never
really planned on joining a
movement like this, and I never
wouldve thought that my idiotic
brother Riley would be the driving
force in me joining this movement.
He must be stopped before the
situation gets worse. If I reach
the end goal of gaining rights for
African-Americans then there will
be nothing else for anyone to fight
for.
Huey dials Bobby Waters number.
HUEY
(On the phone)
Hello?
BOBBY WATERS (V.O.)
Hello? Whos this?
HUEY
Huey Freeman. We met the other day
on Timid Deer Lane and you gave me

BOBBY WATERS (V.O.)
Oh yeah. Are you coming to

always use more people.
HUEY
I just thought it was about time
that I take action.
BOBBY WATERS (V.O.)

Thanks. Is this it right here?
BOBBY WATERS
No, we get business done in the
basement. When the incident with
Tre happened, I started using the
basement to my store as a meeting
spot.
They head downstairs and Thugnificents new song is blasting
on the stereos. People are drinking alcohol and dancing.
BOBBY WATERS
This is where we get work done.
HUEY
Looks like a lot of work is getting
done.
BOBBY WATERS
I know, it seems like the more
people we get to join the movement,
the more our focus gets skewed.
A man they call Drizzy approaches Huey and Bobby.
DRIZZY
Bobby, youre back! whos the

You guys arent ready for my

BOBBY WATERS
See, this is why I need you. I
gained hope for our movement when I
talked to you. We need leaders for
the African-American community and
youre definitely what we need.
These people enjoy spreading
positive vibes when the spotlight
is on them, but when it isnt, they
go back and live whatever life they
want.
Look, the meeting officially starts
in five minutes. Im going to
introduce you and I want you to
just say something smart that will
get people thinking.
Five minutes pass and Bobby calms crowd down. Everyone takes
a seat.
BOBBY WATERS
Thank you everyone for coming
today. I gathered everyone because
I want to plan a march on city

HUEY
Thank you. I came to join you guys
today because African-Americans are
institutionalized under White
Americas laws. We are forced to
accept our current lifestyle. The
truth is that there is way more to
life. We are underprivileged, and
we as human beings deserve to be
treated equally under all
circumstances. Malcolm X once said
"niggas are scared of revolution",
whether it be to stay in a false
reality that they call their
comfort zone, or it be because they
are scared of change. Lets take a
step above being niggas and make
change happen.

Crowd stays silent with confused looks on their faces.

CROWD

Bobby pulls Huey off to the side.
BOBBY WATERS
That was amazing Huey. You got
their support immediately.
