Rules & Expectations

You must be seated and ready to answer your do
now question in your binder by the time the bell
rings. Once you have finished with your do now,
write what we are going to do in class that day and
any homework in your planner. All homework is due
at the beginning of class. The highest grade you can
get for any late assignments is up to 75% credit if
the homework is done perfectly. Any work

submitted two weeks from the due date will not be

accepted. I understand that sometimes things
happen, so email me for an extension if you are
having a family emergency. If you are absent, make
sure you email me for missing work or see me when
you get back. You have one day for every day you are
absent to make up work for up to full credit.

Unit 6 Modern WA State

National History Day

2016 Cedar Heights NHD winners at the regional

competition at Green River Community College.

National History Day is a research-based project where you

pick a topic you are interested in that fits the year's theme. This
year's theme is "taking a stand." Choose a person, group,
company, etc. throughout history that took a stand regarding a
variety of issues and topics. Conduct research in order to make
an original argumentative claim and support it by using
evidence from your research. Because you will spend a
semester working on this project, it will be worth a large
portion of your grade. You may pick between five different
options to present your project; performance, paper, website,
documentary, or exhibit. You will compete against other
students in the school to earn a spot at the regional competition,
then to state, and finally (fingers crossed) the national
competition held in WA D.C. in June. Last year, CH students
took 20/30 possible positions at regionals to move on to state.
Two students were able to place at state. Each year more than
half a million students compete in National History Day. More
information can be found at www.nhd.org.

website. I know that assignments can be emailed to Mrs. Gray at any time and that printer/computer
issues are not an excuse for late assignments.
