Students get extremely bored and enjoy
class less when the teacher does nothing
but lecture them.
This is one hundred percent true. If all you do is
lecture your students over material they will
lose their interest in your class. You need to
have fun activitys to change things up every
now and then.

That kids think that other fields such as
math and English are more important
because they have things that you need to
know for everyday life.
This is also true. In life you have to have a basic
understanding of English and math to function
in society. There is no absolute need for history
to be learned in society.

Students think that social studies is boring
and not as interactive as there other
courses.
This can be true or not true. Certain teachers
teach certain ways. It can be any class no
matter the subject where the teacher chooses
to lecture the entire period.
I believe kids think this is more typical for social
studies because they have no real way of
trouble shooting problems in social studies.
There is no formulas you have to know or any
short cuts to knowing the required information
like other subjects.
Connections to previous MR: Every social studies teacher I have ever had has been very engaging with
his students. Making his course extremely fun to attend. It has allowed me to love learning social
studies however they could get a little repetitive from time to time. I do believe in the writers findings.
It all sounds like exactly what others have told me why they dont like Social Studies and even brings up
some of the reasons why I think so little amount of kids these days take an interest in Social Studies.
