Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections

The Commission on Elections has set the Calendar of Activities for the
upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, October 31,
MANILA,

October 31 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Voting Period


October 21 to October 29 - campaign period for candidates
October 3, Monday, to October 5, Wednesday - Filing of Certificates of
Candidacy
October 1, Saturday, and end on November 7, Sunday - Election period
July 15 to July 30 - the period for voter registration as stated in
Resolution 10151

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez, in an earlier tweet, clarified that no


applications for transfer will be entertained for the barangay and SK elections.

Under the SK Reform Act, Sangguniang Kabataan candidates will have to be


18-24 years old.

Applications for membership of the Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK), for voters


aged 15 to 30 years old.

Meanwhile, the campaign period for candidates will be on

Prohibited acts during this time include removing, destroying, obliterating,


defacing, tampering or preventing distribution of lawful election propaganda;
making any donation or gift in cash or in kind; using armored land, water or air
craft; appointing or using special policemen, special/confidential agents of the
like; and construction or maintenance of provincial, city, municipal or barangay
funded roads and bridges.

Unlike the May 9 polls, the barangay and SK elections will be manual.

Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista: the poll body continues to prepare for the
barangay and SK elections, though it would be more practical if the polls
would be held together with the election of delegates for the Constitutional
Convention, should it be approved by Congress for 2017.

Bautista: the poll body will save P5 to P6 billion this way.
