Quarterly Assessments
At the end of each marking period, students will complete a summative quarterly
assessment that covers all of the topics learned during that marking period. (It is
important to understand that quarterly assessments are not considered cumulative but
material learned in previous units may appear and be necessary to complete the
assessment.) Quarterly assessments do not factor in to the marking period grade.
Quarterly assessments determine Midterm Exam Grade and Final Exam Grade. See
below for basic calculations.
Quarterly 1 assessment points earned + Quarterly 2 assessment points earned/ total possible points = Midterm Exam
Grade

Example: A student earned 77/90 points on Q1 and 81/90 points on Q2. Based on the Q1
and Q2 assessments, the student earned an 88% on their Midterm Exam.
77 pts + 81 pts/ 180 =
158/180 = 88%
Quarterly 3 assessment points earned + Quarterly 4 assessment points earned/ total possible points = Final Exam
Grade

Example: A student earned 86/90 points on Q3 and 83/90 points on Q4. Based on the Q3
and Q4 assessments, the student earned a 94% on their Final Exam.
86 pts + 83 pts/ 180 =
169/180 = 94%
