Teachers Day Celebrations at Jipmer

The Department of Medical Education, Jawaharlal
Institute of Postgraduate
Medical Education and
Research (JIPMER), Puducherry celebrated Teachers
Day on 6th September 2016
to pay honours and obeisance to the great teachers
who served in JIPMER and
have contributed towards
making JIPMER one among
the top ranking medical education institution in India.
Five former teachers of
JIPMER , Dr. B. Mukerjee,
Former Professor of Anatomy, Dr NK Majumdar,
Former Director Professor
& HoD of ENT, Dr Jayanthi Soundararaghavan, Former Director Professor &
HoD of Pathology, Dr PH
Ananthanaravanan, Former
Director of NTTC, Former
Director Professor & HoD
of Biochemistrv and Former Director of JIPMER,
Dr Santosh Kumar, Senior
Professor & Former HoD

of Urology & Former HoD

of Medical Education were
felicitated and honoured in
a simple but befitting ceremony held in JIPMER Academic Centre.
Faculty members, residents and students of JIPMER participated in this
function. Dr. D Kadambari,
Professor and Head of the
Dept. of Medical Education
welcomed the gathering. Dr.
S.C. Parija, Director, JIPMER
delivered the chief guests
address and said that it was
an honour to felicitate such
legendary teachers of JIPMER. He added that with-

out such teachers it would

have not been possible for
JIPMER to get elevated as a
top ranking medical institution in India. Other dignitaries on the dais Dr. S. Mahadeven, Dean (Academic)
and Dr. J. Balachandar Medial Superintendent also recalled their memories about
the legendary teachers. Dr.
Z. Zayapragassarazan, Associate Professor of Medical Education proposed the
vote of thanks. The arrangement for the function was
coordinated by the staff of
Department of Medical Education, JIPMER.
