The Story of Calon Arang

Once upon time, in Girah village lived the supernatural widow named Calon
Arang . She was very powerful, her face was very frightening. But her life was very
happy because she had a very beautiful daughter named Ratna Manggali. Ratna
Manggali was very kind girl, liked to help each other. Everyday she spent her time
in the garden. Do you know what she is doing? She planted and watered the flowers
by singing , like this Hmh.. the song was very romantic, wasnt it?
But Ratna Manggali was very pity girl, no men were brave to apply Ratna
Manggali because all people were afraid with the widow. One day when Ratna
Manggali was walking around the village, she was surprised, whenever she met boys,
they run from her. A man shouted, Hey all of the men in the village, Dont go to
the girl, Dont fall in love with her, Dont marry her. Because All of you can die by
her mother.
After that Ratna Manggali fell down, sad and cried. She prayed to God, Oh
God, why all people in the village hate me. Actually I need a prince in my life
without being afraid with my mother. Suddenly she stood up Stop talking! Dont
think negative about me and my mother, she will be very angry hearing this, Stop!
Stop!
Then.. wind blowed strongly. What happenned? Her mother came She
shouted, Ha ha Hey all people in this village Im Ratna Manggalis mother, a very
powerful woman in the world, Im Calon Arang ha ha How dare you are! You make
my beloved daughter sad and cry, so all of you must be dead. Wuss.. wuss... wuss
Calon Arang was very angry and gave everyone punishment.
After that, the epidemic disease directly attack all people in Girah village. There
were a lot of victims because of it. They were sick and died.

Only Mpu Bharadah from Lemah Tulis Village could solve the problem. He had
good idea to defeat Calon Arang. Mpu Bharadah asked to Bahula, his student to
marry with Ratna Manggali ,Bahula, you must marry with Ratna Manggali, the
daughter of Calon Arang, to make easy for us to beat Calon Arang. said Mpu
Bharadah. Bahula accepted, he answered ,Okay, if it can save all people from the
big disaster because of Calon Arang, I will do.
The propose was accepted, and then Bahula and Ratna Manggali get married,
and They stayed in Ratna Manggalis house with Calon Arang.
From Ratna Manggali, Bahula got information about the weakness of Calon
Arang. Bahula as soon as back to his village Lemah Tulis while brought the black
magic book of Calon Arang and he told everything to Mpu Bharadah.
My lord., from Ratna Manggali, I got many information how to beat Calon
Arang, said Bahula to Mpu Bharadah. Good job Bahula, you have done it well,
answered Mpu Bharadah.
In the last story Mpu Bharadah and Calon Arang had a great battle and
Calon Arang. died. What Calon Arang had done.., she brought destruction in the
world, too many victims were died because of her.
And Ratna Manggali and Bahula lived happily ever after.
So audience the story teach me that we can not be easy to get angry it will
show negative attitude from ourselves.
