CHAPTER 1

1.1 INTRODUCTION:
The present invention relates to an automatic punching machine using Geneva
mechanism, particularly one suitable for performing punching of a paper and galvanized iron
sheet.
The punching machine of this invention is of the type comprising a punching head
provided with a plurality of punch/die pairs for effecting the desired punching of a paper.
In operation of such a known punching machine using Geneva mechanism, a punch/die
is maintained in a said operative position, the paper of required thickness is feed to the punch
and the Geneva mechanism is operated manually and the punch on the paper is done.
1.2 DEFINITION OF PROBLEM:
In conventional punching machine, the job is to be marked before punching operation
and set the alignment of the workpiece with the punch tool. Moreover the job is feed manually
for every punch hole. Due to the above reasons, the entire process takes more time for series
of punching operations.
