POTTERY Advanced Study

ADVANCED STUDY: This class is designed for the student who wishes to further their knowledge of ceramics.
Just about any area can be explored, time and money permitting. Im looking for quality work, with well
thought out projects and as much attention given to the glazing as is given to its construction.
EXPECTATIONS: As an Advanced Study Student, your behavior and cooperation is mandatory. Your attitude
and demeanor should always be professional and appropriate. You are what I want the rest of my pottery students
to aspire towards. We are working together to create lessons that will challenge you and help you further your
skills in ceramics.
YOUR GRADE: Your grade is based on the same categories as before. 50 % for artwork, 20% for Participation,
20% for Lab Duties, and 10% for your Portfolio. The only difference is that you will be creating your lessons and
presenting them to me. Projects must be completed within the agreed upon time frame or be subjected to late
penalties.
PARTICIPATION: Your participation points are given for being in class and working on jobs or your own
projects. Absences, tardiness and cuts will all take away from your participation points. See back for more
details.
LAB ASSISTANT: EVERY POTTERY STUDENT WILL BE A LAB ASSISTANT FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
DURING YOUR ASSIGNMENT YOU WILL BE DOING A VARIETY OF CLEAN UP, ORGANIZATIONAL,
AND HELPFUL TASKS.
PORTFOLIO: YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING DIGITAL IMAGES OF YOUR WORK AND
STORING THEM IN A SHARE FILE.
