Title:

Poutokomanawa Meeting House Centre Pole (Maori Models)

Modality:

Drawing/Collage/Painting

Time:
20-30mins
Facilitator
Information:

Danielle Jelleyman, training Arts Therapist

Materials:

A3 size paper, magazine cuttings, pencils, chalk or oil pastels, felt pens.

Goal:

To create a drawn/painted/collaged pole that represents and explores the

ideas of knowledge, empowerment and resources.

Method/
Process:

Use art equipment to draw or write about what knowledge, empowerment

and resources mean personally or within a community.

Outcome:

I wrote the words knowledge, empowerment and resources and then

illustrated them. I became aware how individualistic I am with lots of
personal pronouns but also an attempt to reach out the community
that is really important to me. Being a Maori Models exercise I think I
was influenced by the imagery I normally associate with Moari Culture.
I wonder if it congruent with Maori culture?
