Goal1Balancingoutsimplesentencestructureswithcomplexsentences:
WhenIamwriting,Iwillmakesuretowritelonger,moreindepthsentencessothatmywriting
doesntgetboringtoread.Especiallywithassignments,Iwillwriteverystraightforward
sentencestoanswertheprompt,buttheflowofmywritinggetstooabruptandchoppy.Iwill
makesuretomeetthisgoalbyresearchingthecorrectpunctuationforlongersentencesor
compoundsentence,sothatIcanexpandonmyideasandspiceupmywritingwhilestaying
grammaticallycorrect.

Goal2Insertingtransitionsthatlinkideastogether
Iwillmakesuretousetransitionsasawaytointroduceanewpoint,whileitstilltiesintothe
previousargumentsothatitdoesnotseemlikeanabruptclosingtothepreexistingidea.For
example,whenIwaswritingmycollegeessay,Ihadahardtimeintegratingstoriesand
examplestosupportmymainideainawaythatwassmoothtoread.Tocompletethisgoal,I
willspendmoretimecreatinganoutlineformywritingpiecessothatwhenIgotowritemy
roughdraft,Iwillhaveabettersenseofhowtoconnectmyargumentstomythesis.

Goal3Passivevs.ActiveVoice
IwillmakesurewhenIamwritingtousethesubjectsofthepiecetoperformasanactivevoice
ratherthanapassivevoice.Ihavehadadifficulttimepurveyingmythoughtsforthereader
throughtextratherthanspeech.Thiswillimprovebyhavingpeerscritiquemywork,Iwilllet
themknowthegoalsIamtryingtofocusontoimprovefuturewritingassignments.
